Charles Zamora studied political science at the University of Texas and law at the University of Akron, where he was a member of the Akron Law Review and published Note, Wiggins v. State: Receiving a Fair Trial Under the Specter of AIDS. 23 Akron L. Rev. 308 (1989).
Beginning his legal career as an Assistant Ohio Attorney General, Chuck represented the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services (“OBESâ€) in defense litigation before the Unemployment Compensation Review Commission, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and the State Personnel Board of Review. He represented OBES at all state court levels in Ohio, as well as the U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals. From 1993 to 1995, Chuck was employed with the “Workers’ Compensation Section†of the Attorney General’s Office and he represented the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (“BWCâ€) and the Industrial Commission of Ohio in jury trial and appellate litigation at all state court levels.
Chuck began private practice in 1995 with the law office of Dean G. Reinhard Co., L.P.A., primarily representing the interests of injured workers and the dependents of deceased workers. He last worked at the German Village location of Reinhard, Zamora & Bates, Co., L.P.A., where he was an equity partner through May 2003.
In 1999, Chuck was among the first 144 attorneys in the State of Ohio to become a “Certified Specialist†by the Ohio State Bar Association in the field of Workers’ Compensation Law. To become certified, candidates were required to demonstrate substantial involvement in the area of workers’ compensation, fulfill additional educational requirements, submit to a peer evaluation process, and pass a written exam. Re-certification is required every four (4) years.
Chuck is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the State Bar of Texas. He is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Texas. He is also admitted to practice law in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Ohio, Northern District of Ohio, Southern District of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit (Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky & Tennessee).
Chuck is a friend of the Fraternal Order of Police, Capital City Lodge #9, a supporter of the City of Columbus Police Softball League, the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio, Inc., the Fraternal Order of Police Foundation, and is a volunteer attorney for the Mid Ohio Workers’ Association. Chuck is the proud brother of Lt. Harry Zamora and Lt. Manuel F. Zamora, Ph.D., of the Houston Police Department.
