Horrible experience! I was referred to this Philip Gauer by a referral service in Columbus ohio. I hired him for a disability appeal because I was denied my benefits due to a disease called gastropareses, a debilitating disease of the digestive system that has left my stomach paralyzed about 80% of the time. It is a disease that attacks the vagus nerve and there is no cure for it. I have been unable to work for over two years and I have been denied health insurance due to this disease as well. This guy ensured me a year ago that he would do everything in his power to win my case. I could not believe it when now it is almost time for my day in court and this guy has done absolutely nothing with my case. He never contacted any of my doctors and he never contacted me for an entire year to let me know of any work that he has done. Since I had paid his fee up front I thought he was actually working on my case. Today I learned that he had done nothing and that I went all the way to his office, an hour trip for me, just to find that he was asking me for the same info that he asked me for a year. This guy asked me a very interesting question. He asked me "how do we fight your case"? I was stunned. I thought he was going to tell me how to fight my case. I thought he wanted to know how this disease had affected my ability to work. Instead he put me on a mock trial and put me on the defense. He treated me more like we were going to trial for a crime I had committed. For example, he was asking me about the dates of all my doctors visits over the past 5 years (that is how long I have been sick) I tried to remember all 5 years appoints in the proper order but I could not remember each date and time and doctors name in order. He interrogated me as if I was lying about the doctors and the dates. If he would have contacted the doctors (which I provided him with all names of hospitals and doctors he could call) he would have known not only the dates he would have know the time, the reason I was there, the doctors name, the medications, well he would have even learned what gastroparesis is and what the doctors say about the disease. Now, just when my case would have been coming (not sure of when but I think it was soon since I was recently contacted via mail to get ready for it) I now have to get a new lawyer like superfast and bring them up to speed. Man, I am too ill for this. I think God is really pissed at me for something. I am going die from the stress of filing for disability. I wish this illness would just go away so I can work for a living. |
