My practice primarily focuses on the elderly and families with disabilities. This is a rather new field in the legal arena known as Elder Law. We work to obtain Medicaid eligibility for the elderly and disabled. We also work with attorneys in assisting their clients in maintaining Medicaid benefits in preparation and filing of special needs trusts for settlements. We will meet with clients in our office, in their home, or at a care facility. We do asset protection planning, gifting/loan combination planning, file Medicaid applications and appear at Medicaid state hearings and appeals for clients’ throughout Ohio.
As part of that planning, we prepare estate planning documents, living and family trusts, special needs trusts, Medicaid trusts, and deeds, and representation of clients for guardianships and estate administration. My office services clients mainly in the central Ohio area, but we do travel to various cities/areas throughout Ohio (Delaware, Mt. Vernon, Urbana, Dayton, Lancaster, Chillicothe, to name a few).
I have been practicing law since 1978, but I have been in private practice serving the elderly for over 16 years.
Approximately 95% of my clients are referrals from attorneys throughout the State of Ohio, and through my memberships with the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA), the Columbus Bar Association (CBA), and other affiliations such as Alzheimer’s Support Group, Gerlach Center, Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging (COAAA), etc. Our remaining clients are repeat clients or are referrals from existing clients.
