When Reminger was first founded, its original book of business was defending trucking liability and workers' compensation claims. From its inception the Workers' Compensation Group continued to expand and now defends self insured and state funded employers in both the state of Ohio and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Our lawyers have experience in defending all types of claims, including occupational disease claims, repetitive trauma injury claims as well as those claims which assert that a civil penalty should be levied against the employer for allegedly violating established safety requirements. In defending these claims our lawyers regularly appear before the administrative agencies responsible for workers' compensation claims and have a specialized particular skill in defending appeals before the Common Pleas jury system and the Court of Appeals where a Writ of Mandamus is sought. Our lawyers have additionally argued before the Supreme Court of Ohio and the Supreme Court of Kentucky and regularly appear in those forums by way of amicus curiae briefs supporting employer causes.
In addition to the defense of workers' compensation claims, some of our practice group members have developed a subspecialty representing employers in both Ohio and Kentucky on coverage issues and disputes. In this fashion, our lawyers are prepared to counsel and represent employers on acquiring and maintaining proper workers' compensation coverage, self insurance, defending audits and ensuring that our clients' employees are properly classified for purposes of premium allocation and self insured assessments. Finally, our lawyers are actively involved in trade associations involving workers' compensation issues and appear before the legislative bodies of Ohio and Kentucky on behalf of employer causes.
